Some early details on the supposed PS3 3.0 Firmware have surfaced today. According to VG247.com, an unnamed source has reported that firmware version 3.0 will be a complete redo for the PS3. It is being called a “completely new system” and a “huge overhaul” that can be compared with the NXE (New Xbox Experience), that was released last fall, in some respects. Similar still to the NXE this Firmware 3.0 update is reportedly set to be released late this year, in time for the holiday season, and is set to include a host of new features and updates to existing features.
More details after the break. VG247.com also detailed a few new features, the first of which is a “reputation” system. This reputation system will reportedly allow other players to rate how one plays online. There will also be a grief reporting system that will allow people to take screen shots of offensive players and send them to Sony.
A huge feature that is stepping away from the player to player interaction is the ability to download patches in the background. Meaning you won’t have to sit for five minutes while Socom Confrontation, for example, downloads one of it’s many game fixes. And the final feature that was detailed is the ability to have simultaneous HDMI and digital optical outputting.

According to French website PS3Gen.fr, we could be seeing a price cut of both the PS3 and PSP as early as this June. This news come from a supposed “proven” internal source from the French site, who unofficially confirmed a PS3, PSP price cut for early June of this year. The source revealed the new price of the PSP, which is 169 euros, down from it’s current price of 189 euros. Unfortunately the source did not give out the price for the PlayStation 3. However, we don’t know if the price cut is coming to North America as well. The source also confirmed the existence of the new PSP, in which they said it should be available before the end of the year. As of right now, take this as only “rumor and speculation”, and wait for an official statement from Sony. [ Source ] More??

Atomic Games has revealed its newest game in San Francisco today, titled Six Days of Fallujah. It’s a 3rd person shooter that is going to very closely follow real events that happened in Fallujah, Iraq in 2004. Atomic has brought on more than 3 dozen soldiers that were involved in the battles in Fallujah to help them make it as pinpoint accurate as they possibly can. Peter Tamte, the president of Atomic Games has this to say on the subject of their new upcoming shooter.
