One of the PlayStation 3’s original flagship titles, Lair , suffered greatly from horrendous SixAxis motion controls and left most gamers underwhelmed, due in large part to the immense hype Sony put on the title. Even though the title released almost three years ago, Sony has put a hefty price tag on a new copy of the game; leaving many confused as to why. A quick peek at Sony’s official USA ‘parts and accessories store’ will reveal the price point for a new copy of Lair to be $79.99 . That’s right, an almost three year old game costs more than a standard new game costs nowadays. Someone at Sony must have a wicked sense of humor, and this goes without saying, obviously this is an error. However, due to the hilarity of the situation, we thought it would be best to alert you, before the rogue employee fixes his mistake. We suggest you avoid this exclusive Sony deal and go to your nearest GameStop, and pick up a used version of the game for $15 .

By now, Activision’s extremely poor public appearance is known from the hardest of the hardcore, to even the casual crowd. Initially, Activision’s image was tainted by their CEO Bobby Kotick and his plethora of unprecedentedly ludicrous public statements concerning Sony , his staff , and Activision supporters , but this was only the start of their headache. Their image continued to rapidly wither in the eyes of the community this past year due to their harsh, “police-state” methods of running partner company Infinity Ward . This lead to two of their most talented lead designers being forcibly removed from their offices, and ultimately ended in a multi-million dollar lawsuit , and the self-explosion of Infinity Ward . But from the ashes, Zampella and West created a new studio , backed not only by an exclusive partnership with Electronic Arts , but also with more than 30 of their previous co-workers . Now, just as the dust settles, Activision’s history is brought back into mind by a statement from EA. Growing proportionately with the gaming industry, Electronic Arts is one of the giants in video game publishing companies. They’re often compared with Activision in terms of quantity and variety of titles produced each year, but recently during an interview with IndustryGamers, EA’s COO John Schappert explained just what sets his company a part from the other mega-publisher, Activision. “I would say we’re two very, very different companies. What we try to be is a company that embodies creative development, that fosters the development of games, that treats talent as well as you possibly can, because at the end of the day, that’s what our industry is and that’s what our company is.” “Without great people we can’t have great games, and without great games we don’t have much of a company and so it’s all about taking care of the people that make the products and treating them as the most precious resource because they truly are. So that’s really our philosophy.” Speaking directly about Activision and their former employees, Schappert went on to express his enthusiasm to have more creative minds on board. “… stories of late [regarding Activision] haven’t been very positive. And we couldn’t be happier to have Jason [West] and Vince [Zampella] as part of our EA Partners program, or Ted Price of Insomniac.” How do you feel about the two giants? Mad Catz, the long-running peripheral manufacturer, recently announced that it’ll be creating a line of peripherals for the upcoming first-person shooter, Call of Duty: Black Ops . The PlayStation 3 was announced as a supported platform a little over a week ago, and now the official details are finally in. The Call of Duty: Black Ops peripheral line-up will feature a wide-range of products including a PlayStation 3 controller, Xbox 360 controller, Wii remote and nunchuck, PC mouse, ProGaming glasses, controller faceplates, mousepad, gamepad and even a gaming headset. Each peripheral and accessory will be decorated with some nice art to match the theme of Treyarch’s upcoming eighth addition to the series, Black Ops. The full details for the Mad Catz PS3 controller are below: Call of Duty: Black Ops Wireless PrecisionAIM Controller – PlayStation 3 The Black Ops Wireless PrecisionAIM Controller utilizes a secure 2.4 GHz wireless link to connect with the console for accurate wire-free action. Similar in features to the Xbox 360 Combat Controller, the PlayStation 3 variant features a built-in Rechargeable Battery that allows for charging directly from the console’s USB port and provides up to 60 hours of game play from a single charge. ‘Military inspired’ Rubber Grips and soft-touch finish feature along with the unique Combat Buttons allowing gamers to enter Precision Aim mode or re-map Action Button and ThumbStick commands. Immersive Backlighting bathes the Analog ThumbSticks in a red glow for enhanced in-game atmosphere and the Wireless PrecisionAIM Controller for PlayStation 3 is again available in dual ‘Stealth’ or ‘Tiger’ designs. MSRP: $49.99 Official images of the Black Ops peripherals have been released and I must say they look fantastic. Unfortunately Mad Catz hasn’t released an image for the PS3 controller, so images of some of the other peripherals will have to suffice.

THQ’s smash-hit fighter UFC Undisputed 2010 has only been out for a few short months, but it appears massive deals are popping up which will give those with little pocket money a chance to hop into the octagon and throw down! Toys R Us is currently offering the PlayStation 3 version (the superior version) of UFC 2010 for just $39.99, that’s a whopping $20 price reduction! If you’re a fan of the UFC, or just the fighting genre in general, then you owe it to yourself to check this one out, as you probably won’t see this title offered at this price for quite some time, or at least until UFC 2011 comes out next year.
