Let’s face it, Activision doesn’t exactly come straight to mind when you think of well liked publishers. And with years of bad press composed mostly of unpopular Kotick quotes and shady business practices , who could blame you? Well, the new CEO of Activision Publishing sure can’t and for the most part understands where most of the gaming community is coming from. Speaking to Kotaku , Eric Hirshberg sort of indirectly recognized the notion that, despite their many accomplishments, Activision certainly has dropped the ball somewhere. “I only have my perceptions as a outsider to go on. I think that Activision, based on the number of great gaming experiences they have delivered, should be a more beloved brand than you would think they are by reading the core-gaming blogosphere.” As the new CEO of one of Activision Blizzards newly created subsidiaries, Hirshberg plans to balance out the universe and make things right with the world, which shouldn’t be too difficult given the dudes reputation he built during his 13 years at marketing and advertising agency Deutsch LA. During that time, Hirshberg worked on many high profile projects, most notably Sony’s “It Only Does Everything Campaign”, and rose up through the ranks, ultimately settling as the firms CEO. For the most part, we can’t help but agree with this guy. The appeal of their blockbuster titles routinely reflects on their earnings , yet community support lacks far behind. Still, with Kotick steadfast at the helm of AcitBlizz, it won’t be easy to convince gamers into washing the bad taste out of their mouths. Good luck, Hirsh. You’ll need it.
Activision Blizzard has appointed a new Chief Executive Officer for Activision Publishing today. Eric Hirshberg, a veteran in marketing and advertising, will assume Mike Griffith’s role and become Activision Publishing CEO on September 7 this year. For those that don’t know, Hirshberg was the man behind Sony’s Kevin Butler. Hirshberg will oversee Activision Publishing’s operational management such as their studio, product development functions and consumer marketing activities. “In contemplating the requirements for the role of Activision Publishing’s new CEO we believed it was vital to have a leader who was a dedicated gamer, inspired creative thinker, and possessed the ability to manage and lead creative talent in a manner that produced both superior products and provided superior shareholder returns,” stated Robert Kotick, Chief Executive Officer of Activision Blizzard. “Eric is unique in this regard. There was no one we could find who possessed the unique blend of skills that Eric brings to Activision.” “Eric’s experience helping to develop strategies for his clients like Sony’s PlayStation, Direct TV and HTC have given him unique exposure to video games, subscription-based entertainment and the delivery of mobile content. I have known him for a long time and Eric is one of those rare multi-talented people who managed to build a billion dollar business from the ground up in a difficult, competitive industry using his creative skills, passion for excellence, discipline and focus. He is one of the most inspiring people I know and I am excited that his energy, determination, and keen understanding of popular culture will be added to our extraordinarily talented team.” “Eric’s proven business development and talent management abilities combined with his established abilities as a creative leader make him uniquely suited to lead Activision Publishing for continued success,” says Thomas Tippl, Chief Operating Officer of Activision Blizzard. Hirshberg had his own feelings on his new position. “I feel like everything I’ve done in my entire career has been preparing me for this,” says Hirshberg. “This is a chance to take everything I know how to do, from leading creative people, to developing a great creative product, to building a culture of ideas, and apply them to something I’ve been passionate about my entire life. Activision has a portfolio of properties, and track record of innovation that are second to none. To be able to help write the next chapter is the opportunity of a lifetime.”
Activision Publishing appoints new CEO is a post from: Massive Playstation Resources

Sony’s upcoming PlayStation Move controller has proven itself over the past year to be far from a one trick pony. With casual and hardcore titles alike being fully supported from it’s launch in September, the library for Move is as vast as ever seen. With that said, there are without question more titles in development for Move and even one that Sony has shown but surprisingly hasn’t announced yet. Last year during the annual European Gamescom show there was a PlayStation Move Developer’s Update trailer shown which featured several announced Move titles such as Sports Champions and even the recently debuted Sorcery . However, there was one game shown in the trailer which seemingly hasn’t been announced yet, and it was arguably the most captivating game shown in the trailer. The game in question features a dark scary house with beautiful visuals and a middle-aged main character armed with a flashlight. Sound familiar? We can tell a few things from the brief seconds the game is shown in the trailer. First off, judging by the environment and the fact that the narrator says “light your way through creepy caverns”, we can reasonably assume it’s a survival-horror game. The game also features full Move support as detailed by the “Press ACTION To PICK-UP Plates” command shown on the screen. There’s also a young female in the house along with the main character, so it looks like the character isn’t alone during the events of the game. We can expect to hear this announced as soon as Sony is ready, and with several key conferences coming in the following months, it should be sooner rather than later. Whatever it is, it looks like one of the most interesting Move titles and one that could become a blockbuster for Sony’s upcoming motion controller.
Alan Wake Style Survival Horror Move Title Still Unannounced is a post from: Massive Playstation Resources
